The week of July 26th drew the interest of readers that were updated on a story dubbed the Biggest Bridal Show Scam ever. New information being uncovered in an investigation launched in several states is expected to continue bringing to light information that sat dormant for months.
New Information and arrests this week brought to light information gathered since March. The investigation is fanning out over several states including Dallas, Texas and Maryland. eWN readers in both areas provided insight and details on the story.
Interest in Wedding Industry Information was equally read this week, as WE TV Network’s Wedding Report continues to rise above questionable information that exists in the marketplace. Collaborations and discussions leading up to recent announcements including Jacqueline Johnson becoming part of the WISN advisory board focused on how important data-driven, refined information is. “It’s time for a definitive source that is not motivated by advertising to step forward and become the leader of the business. I believe in what this group will be doing but more importantly I see the true value of how it’s being done,” said Ms. Johnson.
Other well respected wedding industry notables are contacting the group, expressing interest in becoming involved. Pending announcements expected in the coming weeks that will include respected publications and major organization will be helping to balance a unique cross-section of wedding professionals participating in group activities, gathering data and proving their input to the results. “Once that’s done they will be able to offer expert advice on topic related to their field,” said Shane McMurray, coordinator of the group.
In the Men’s Formal Wear category discussions continued among buyers and sellers of merchandise that include the need to promote new products. The tuxedo business’ second largest buyer, Jim’s formal wear, in Trenton, Illinois, reaffirmed their commitment to press manufacturers for innovation and promotion of new styles up for consideration for the 2011 season. Growing discussion with all size buyers in the business are picking up on Jim’s lead and say they will also be less likely to buy fashion products that will not be properly advertised, going forward.
New sources outside the category and the country say they are interested in becoming a resource for buyers, feeling they can provide product and promotion to fill the current gap.
