A story involving players that have been employers, workers, interns and even cohorts in reported less-than-flattering business dealings grows more curious by the day, as eWedNews investigates the past of its participants.
A new trade magazine is said to be on its way to subscribers at a time when most print publications are struggling to survive. The publication is called WedLock and is being produced by Jason Hennessey and Jayne Leigh Hallock. The magazine is said to have been just printed and will be shipped to an undisclosed number of subscribers reportedly paying almost $40 dollars a month fee. While the news of a print format attempting to launch in a digital age is interesting enough, the story behind the formation of the publication is fascinating.
Jason Hennessey, the President of 1weddingsource.com, a Wedding planning directory that caters to the needs of every bride in the USA, was also a reported intern and limited employee at StomperNet. Hennessey’s site is said to be filled with useful information and provides Wedding Favors for every bride and groom’s taste.
Hennessey has teamed up with Jayne Leigh Hallock, also an ex-employee of Stompernet. Together, Hennessey and Hallock told eWedNews last week they were excited to be launching the new trade publication, feeling the timing was right in the business. In a correspondence to a potential sponsor, Hallock wrote, “We launched just last week and couldn't be more excited (or exhausted!) but the feedback we're getting from wedding vendors and association heads alike has been overwhelmingly encouraging. We think we're on to something and so do people like Sonny Ganguly, the great Markels from AFWPI, Mobile Beat, Perfect Wedding Guide and many more.”
In an eWedNews investigation we contacted some of the people Hallock mentions including Sonny Ganguly of Wedding Wire. Gangly was reluctant to speak to eWN regarding the association with Wedlock but managed to write, “WeddingWire is committed to providing helpful tips and advice to wedding professionals. We have an Education Center on our site that allows wedding pros to read articles on Search Engine Optimization, Email Marketing, the latest in Social Media, and more. In addition, we host webinars a couple times per month and speak at Associations across the country on these topics. WedLock featured our Education Center’s “5 Steps to Email Marketing Success” article in their new magazine. We do not have a partnership with WedLock, but simply provided some of the content from our Education Center...the same way we do with associations and other printed publications.”
Discussions with others involved with the launch gave similar thoughts but declined to be quoted for this article. One source said they were amiss at some of the emerging information that is published on the Internet involving some of the WedLock team and their past associations with some questionable goings on at Stompernet.
According to Brad Fallon, Jane Hallock, her husband and another family member all worked at Stompernet. “Jayne was developing this publication for the Wedding industry while she worked for us. Unfortunately, her husband was a very high-salaried employee of ours and we were forced to let him go. Soon afterwards her sister left; recently, so did Jayne. I only heard about their launch recently and I wish them well with their project.
In a follow-up conversation with Hennessy, he disputes his intern position at Stompernet saying, “I was never an intern there,” claiming he held a higher paid executive position. Hennessey’s composure grew thin and protested on the questioning regarding the topic saying he planned to retaliate if this story was released. Hennessey said he has the ability to slur the name of ewedNews, Paul Pannone and even threatened a physical confrontation. We welcomed his scurrilous threats and await his actions.
