Trade member seeks to protect the wedding business from virtual harm.

eWedNews is monitoring the growth pattern of companies and individuals that seek to undermine the very existence of retail, brick and mortar stores and individual owners. Larger organizations that are accused of creating shill web sites and virtual environments are being observed, selling goods and services to accounts while stealing their customers without them even knowing it.

In very rare instances have we found an approach to genuinely assist store owners and guide them to be able to stand a better chance of increasing their business. In March, we met with Brian Lawrence, an industry member and advocate for independent store owners. Lawrence proposed several ways of helping and has just unveiled one of them.

In a press release this week, Lawrence specifically tells of plans to redirect searches to information that will help consumers understand the importance of service and the human factor when it comes to wedding announcements and holiday stationary.

 

May 12, 2010 – RIVER EDGE, N.J. – In recent years, almost all niche businesses in the wedding industry have turned to the Internet to reach their target market of brides online. However, seasoned wedding professional Brian Lawrence, VP of sales and marketing for Encore Studios, is taking a stand to make sure one aspect of the industry maintains its originality.  Lawrence recently purchased a collection of valuable domain names promoting electronic wedding announcements and Christmas cards that could potentially threaten the wedding invitation and stationery business.

“I won’t ever let these domain names get into the hands of businesses that promote online cards and invitations. I will keep these domains and redirect them to a page that discusses the value of sending a physical card or invitation and the importance of supporting the industry,” Lawrence said.  

As a domain expert and the founder of Local Traffic Builder, an Internet marketing company for wedding businesses, Lawrence has compiled one of the largest libraries of high-impact stationery and wedding industry domain names.  Along with Web design, enhancements, and marketing strategies, he uses these domains to help retailers establish a strong presence for their businesses online.

“My latest initiative in my cause to improve the stationery industry came from a different trend of thought,” Lawrence said. “Because of the relevance of the key words in these domains, the development of these sites could become a major online threat to this business – I won’t let that happen.”

Through his many years of dialog with thousands of wedding dealers, Lawrence started Local Traffic Builder www.localtrafficbuilder.com to help wedding retailers maximize the benefits of the Internet to help their local businesses.
