The Week of May 17th in Review and a look ahead to next week.

By Paul Pannone

Drama gripped the news this week, as a new breed of marketing that centers around SEO Experts  bring their knowledge to the wedding industry. The story continues to develop, as the industry waits for the first issue of a new trade magazine, reportedly endorsed by respected organizations and trade personalities, is set to be delivered.

The drama stems from a dubious cast  with a documented history on the Internet that now say they’re able to parlay their knowledge of web site and key word rankings and help wedding industry vendors.

On a more positive note, Bridal Publications were elated to learn that brides planning their weddings are using traditional wedding magazine in greater numbers than first thought. Ongoing results in a survey being conducted by Shane McMurray, a respected and trusted wedding industry analyst, shows a significant number of brides are purchasing bridal magazines – over 60%--  to help them in their planning process. McMurray continues his data collection and research to sub-segment the findings further in an effort to discover which magazines are favored most. The study is expected to reveal more information and insight to how contemporary brides differ from those of the past. The results and report will be available later this summer.

In contrast, a digital eBook by Christine Boulton was released and is being well-accepted by wedding vendors that want the real, non-nonsense information on how to leverage the face-to-face power of bridal shows. Boulton is receiving high remarks from experts that have read what she has to say. The book is expected to continue to gain acceptance through the summer and into fall when bridal shows ramp up again.

This week, a major announcement in the men’s formal wear category is expected to mark the beginning of a new era in tuxedo rentals and retail sales. The announcement involves the formal wear division of George Weintraub and Son called FLOW. Details of a merger that is expected to create the biggest men’s formal wear producer, supplier and new-age marketer in the category are being verified and will be released on eWedNews in Monday’s edition.
