New York’s fiscal troubles are among the most severe in the nation. Budget cuts, shortfalls and cost overruns are catching up on the Big Apple but the news could be good for those wanting to use the city’s rich resources, as starving businesses and major companies explore news ways of enticing events.
According to Business Travel Destinations, New York was the eighth most expensive cities in the world for business travel. The 2009 study was done before the grip of the recession and prior to cost cutting measures to become more competitive.
eWedNews has learned that American Airlines plans to add 23 more flights to and from seven new destinations out of New York’s JFK and LaGuardia airports by the end of the year. The carrier, based in Fort Worth, Texas, has also pledged more than $30 million in terminal improvements at the two airports to accommodate the added traffic into the region.
Discussions with bridal industry sources say they’re exploring the possibility of expanding showsin the area because of a new willingness by venues to keep their rooms full and their staff working. Only a single, unidentified detractor felt this to be untrue but could not adequately convey their reasoning why.
