Readers responding to recent eWedNews postings say they are agreeing with a more cautious spending bride planning her wedding. Some feel brides are now taking a sensible approach rather than splurging on non-essential items. Others feel a better educated DIY bride is starting to realize the cost difference between doing it themselves and getting it done right by a professional is not that great.
According to a Forbes article Eighty-three percent of those polled said they planned to spend the same or less on non-essential purchases. When it comes to clothes, many plan to recycle what they're wearing rather than purchasing new basics. The article also revises 2009 forecasts that said the recovery would begin to take greater shape by the third quarter of 2010 saying consumers expect to resume their pre-recession spending in 2013.
Growing discussions with wedding industry sources feel consumers—brides—will ultimately become more knowledgeable about goods and services, demanding greater value rather than just looking for the best price.
