As the recession wears on the mood of the country continues to be conservative in nature and while new reports say wedding spending is up, brides are still not splurging the way they did before 2008.
The statement is based on a new report by the wedding Industry Survey Network, polling vendors in their markets. Varied comments in raw data form that was just released carried the common thread of caution, citing Do It Yourself projects and the desire to save money; signaling spending, while on an upward trek, is no longer the splurge spending leading up to 2008.
Spending on items with the words “accessory”, “decoration” or “tip” attached to them declined. Spending for personal, non-essential items like teeth whitening, weight loss, facials, hair removal and make up were also cut back, re-positioning the money towards core products and necessities.
