New York has been the focus of attention for bridal fashion this week but most of the reports say traffic has not been as desirable as first thought. A very strong campaign to attract buyers into the NY area but the lingering effects of a slow economy and heavy discounting in the bridal gown business was cited for the poor performance.

Yet another twist in the unraveling story surrounding several of the wedding business’ top players has come to light; some by the admission of sources that are unsuccessfully trying to remain hidden behind corporate shrouds or are trying to grasp at straws.
Yesterday’s exclusive breaking story involving one of the co-founders of Kate Aspen, Brad Fallon, brought greater attention to the Get Married story where Becca Leish, communications person, admitted to a relationship with Kate Aspen. The non-news is becoming interesting, as Brad Fallon, reported ex-CEO of the company told EWN he was instrumental in founding the company. Fallon is trying to rebuild his life after a bitter divorce with Jennifer Fallon. “I was there at the beginning, every step of the way,” said Brad, contradicting published reports crediting his estranged wife with all the glory.
Today, an attempted post by an anonymous source that was later identified as member of the Get Married team in Atlanta, tried to discredit the reporting and information. Through the ongoing investigation and random ramblings done by the discovered source, he said the following:
“By the way. Don't know what that address is, but I'm in Lawrenceville, GA, not Atlanta. You have your wires crossed. You're not planning to do this reporter thing professionally are you? But I think I know what the deal is with the Get Married company! They're going to take over the world! By the time they're done, there will be wedding favors in every home and even your grandmother will subscribe to their magazine. Dude, really? What possible evil plan could there be with these people? Do you think they'll be the next Google? Or the Knot? Gasp! That's all brides need is even more info! God help us all. You know, I have wasted too much time on this. Good luck with your search. You're being silly and almost maniacal.” Chris Horton and his most current association with Get Married remain undetermined. Direct questions were averted, as his e-mail showed signs of a disgruntled ex-employee, amid his pokes at our credibility.
"What is going on with these people? They are definately hiding something and obviously do not want it uncovered," say a growing number of wedding industry sources following the story. Some are now doing their own research and have shared information they've uncovered. " Did you read his linkedin profile? Very interesting; it says --I previously worked for Smart Marketing (the home of My Wedding Favors, Kate Aspen, etc.), where I helped them attain top positions on Google.”
An alleged attempt by Horton to send a virus in at least one of our exchanges was thwarted. Horton denied any such attempt and said he didn’t even know how to send one; a curious statement by a man that makes a living in web site optimization and online functions.
Ironically, his poke at our credibility and journalistic skills comes on a day where we’re attending an esteemed function involving investigative reporters in New York. We were invited to attend.

What appeared to be a dirty story about a dirty man with an ex-wife that doesn’t understand was concerning to vendors receiving a solicitation for an educational meeting in Atlanta. eWedNews is investigating the story in the aftermath of the so-called Bridal Scam Of The Century that duped thousands of couples and hundreds of vendors out of money in Boston in February.

In a developing story, reports say wedding industry organizations are looking to the east and the rich resources inherent to the New York area. The fashion and cultural capital of the world could become the Mecca of wedding professionals in the coming years, as growing opportunities and incentives make the area more affordable.

The Wedding season officially starts on Monday, April 5th and ends November 26th, 2010, resulting in 235 days or 7 months, 21 days of wedding season. From all indications, bookings and overall business remains flat in most areas due to the economic factors, cutbacks in spending and an increase in the number of vendors offering goods and services.
